A
POTENTIAL CONSULTANT TO REVIEW TRAINING MODULES
1. Organizational
Overview
Ethiopian Institute
of Peace/EIP/ is a non-governmental, non-partisan and non-profit making
organization working on the areas of conflict mitigation and peacebuilding in
almost all regional states. Its mission is to advocate and nurture a culture of
peace and development through proactive grassroots participation by fostering
customary and modern conflict resolution mechanisms in Ethiopia and the Horn of
Africa. Since its inception, EIP has been implementing several projects and programs
in partnership with different actors to fulfill its mission. Recently, EIP has
collaborated with Pact with the support of the USAID is implementing a
Sustainable Peace Activity Project in Ethiopia.
Background: Project
Goal and Objectives
The overall
objective of the project is strengthening Ethiopia's conflict resolution and
peacebuilding system at the national, regional and community levels. The
project has 5 specific objectives: Strengthen accessible legitimate structures
and networks for peacebuilding, bolster inclusive and transparent opportunities
for consensus building and social cohesion, build greater and widespread
commitment to peacebuilding, develop conflict early warning and early responses
for conflict and violence prevention on key drivers, conduct targeted and timely
action research and conflict analysis.
2. Objectives of the
Consultancy Work
The major objective
of this consultancy work is to review, update, and localize existing modules in
English language on the following major themes
Module 1: Culture of
peace,
Module II: Conflict
management skills,
Module III: Conflict
Early Warning and Early Response (CEWER),
Module IV: Conflict
Sensitivity,
Module V: Dialogue
Facilitation Skills
Scope of the
Consultancy Work
The scope of this
consultancy work is limited to updating and localizing the above listed training
modules and their training guides in English language. The modules should have
local flavors and easily adaptable to the different conflict contexts and to
train local civil society organizations and community- based peace actors.
Allotted time for reviewing and localizing modules is 20 working days after the
approval of the table of contents. One consultant can compete for all or any of
the modules but should separately submit the technical and financial proposals
for the module/s he/she is interested to review.
3. Deliverables
The consultant is
expected to deliver the following outputs.
-Clear timeline and
financial proposal to accomplish the consultancy work. The financial proposal
should indicate estimated number of days required to develop each module and
cost per day including any applicable taxes.
-Inception report
with clear table of contents for each module within 5 days after the award of
the consultancy work;
-Final and amended
version of the table of contents;
-A reviewed and
localized training module.
-Facilitate one-day
validation workshop enrich the localized module/s
-Amend comments and
submit final version of the module.
4. Profile of
Consultant
The consultant/s
should have Master's degree and above levels of study in the areas of peace and
conflict studies and/or relevant fields of studies with proven practical experience
in developing training modules. Furthermore, the consultant is expected to:
-Have proven work experience
in areas of conflict management, problem-solving dialogue, conflict sensitivity,
and other relevant areas;
-Be aware of the
ethnic diversity, sensitivity, and current socio-political situation of the
project context;
-Have analytical
ability to put the contents of the training modules in a logical order;
-Have good mastery
of instructional language and conflict sensitive communication;
-Familiar with
formal and customary conflict resolution and peacebuilding mechanisms;
-Deliver the expected
outputs within the agreed timeline.
5. Required
Documents:
The consultant/s
should fulfill at least the following requirements.
-It can be a firm, a
group of consultants or an individual consultant
-It should have a
legal license for consultancy service, if it is a firm.
-It should have a renewed
business license for the current Ethiopia year, if it is a firm.
-It should be
registered with the Ethiopian tax authority and should produce valid documents
including VAT, TIN, Tax clearance, and registration certificate.
-Bid must be
presented in separate envelopes clearly identified by bidder's name, address
and legal stamp if it is a firm.
6. Submission of the
Technical Proposal
The consultant is
expected to submit the technical proposal together with the following
supportive documents.
-Updated curriculum vitae
that clearly narrates the relevant experience.
-Financial proposal
to produce each module.
-A consultant or
team of consultants can apply for one or all of the training modules. However,
cost and timeline should be prepared for each module separately.
7. Submission

EIP reserves the
right to accept or reject any or all bids without fixing any reason thereof.
